This small, self-contained unit overlays GPS coordinates, Heading, Speed, Altitude, NMEA depth (if available), and Time/Date on a video image.

Two Serial Ports are available for connection to GPS or NMEA instruments.

Type Text on Your Video

Connecting a standard PS-2 keyboard (PC Keyboard) to WriteGPS adds “Video Typewriter” capability to the GPS overlay.

Conversion of GPS position to UTM or State Plane Coordinates

No other affordable, self-contained annotator offers this feature! Most GPS receivers – including the most sophisticated units – output only geographical (latitude / longitude ) coordinates on the NMEA serial port.

WriteGPS’s coordinate conversion engine will convert GPS output to UTM coordinates or any zone of the US State Plane Coordinate System (NAD27 or NAD83). Datum transformation is available for commonly used earth models.

Setup from an Easy To Use Windows Program

Although WriteGPS is a stand alone unit (it requires no auxiliary PC to operate), an intuitive and easy to operate Windows program is provided for setup. The user may choose setup options and graphically design the annotation overlay layout. This information is downloaded to WriteGPS via a cable from the PC serial port. Multiple configurations may be saved in the setup program to be easily reloaded to WriteGPS.
